
Drivers in Effingham County should expect lane closures and traffic shifts as crews continue to work on several road projects aimed at improving traffic flow across the county.
The Georgia Department of Transportation issued an alert that crews will inspect the interchange area in Effingham County, and motorists should expect a lane closure from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 1 on Interstate 16 eastbound at Exit 148 and Old River Road.
"Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed, stay alert and watch for workers to help keep everyone safe during the work zone," reads a statement from GDOT.
According to Effingham County, drivers should be mindful of roadway improvements from Oct. 1-2. Curb, gutter, sidewalk and driveway improvements are underway as part of the
construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Blue Jay Road and Hodgeville Road. Paving work will take place on Chimney Road and Corinth Church Road, while shoulder work will be conducted on Rahn Station Road.
The county also says road work that was expected to take place Old Augusta Road Oct. 1 has been moved to Oct. 8.
