The Chatham County Police Department is investigating the cause of a Monday morning accident involving a school bus.
A sedan collided with a school bus while crossing traffic around 7:40 a.m. Monday on King George Boulevard, according to a CCPD press release. CCPD found the sedan driver at-fault but are investigating the possibility of a medical episode causing the crash, according to the press release.
The sedan driver was transported from the scene by ambulance with a “potentially life-threatening condition,” according to the press release.
There were also two children on the bus that complained of pain and were transported to a local hospital by ambulance as a precaution, the press release said. CCPD Public Information Officer Betsy Nolen told
the Savannah Morning News that additional information on the injured individuals would not be able to be released due to medical privacy laws.
The investigation into the crash is active and ongoing by the CCPD Traffic Unit, the press release said. CCPD is the lead investigative agency in the incident.
