A murder suspect who escaped from the AtkinsonCounty Jail over the weekend is back in custody, bringing a statewide manhuntto an end.
Atkinson County Sheriff David Moore announced shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday that Pablo Zuriel Miranda, 32, had been apprehended.
Few details about the arrest were immediately released, and authorities have not said where Miranda was found or how he was taken into custody.

How did he escape?
Miranda escaped from the Atkinson County Jail on Sunday morning while loading food trays into a transport van, according to Sheriff Moore.
The sheriff previously said a jail employee briefly turned away to throw away a box. When the employee turned back, Miranda was running. The jailer chased after him but was unable to catch
him.
Sheriff apologized after the escape
Following the escape, Moore acknowledged that mistakes by jail staff led to Miranda getting away and accepted responsibility.
"I'm sorry. I failed you," Moore said Monday. "We made bad decisions, and now the community has to suffer for it."
Before Miranda was captured, Moore said investigators believed the suspect was "nowhere near" Atkinson County based on information gathered during the investigation.
FBI joined the search
The FBI had assisted in the search and offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to Miranda's arrest after investigators said they believed he may have been attempting to flee to Mexico.
According to jail records, Miranda is charged with:
- Two counts of felony murder
- Aggravated assault
Investigation continues
Authorities have not released additional information about Miranda's apprehension, including whether anyone will face charges related to his escape.
The investigation remains ongoing.
