Summer vacation is over and school is back in session. But where does yours stand?
Emory University isn't just one of the top in Georgia, it's also one of the best in the world, according to U.S. News and World Report's latest ranking of the top global universities and colleges. Two in the Peach State made the top 100 with others further down the list.
The global rankings use different criteria from the American rankings of universities, putting emphasis on different factors like international reputations and academic research performance.
Why was Emory University the state's top global university?
Emory is ranked No. 21 in best value schools and tied for 24th among "national universities."
Looking at programming, it's a tier 1 medical research school tied for 2nd in undergraduate nursing and public health;
but it's 1st in nursing masters and is 2nd in nursing doctorates. Emory is also in the top 25 for business schools, some areas of law school, and "writing in the disciplines."
