A popular food publication has picked an Atlanta-area restaurant as the best place to get ramen in Georgia, putting the state on a nationwide ramen road trip.
Tasting Table
recently released its list of the best ramen restaurant in every state, and its Georgia pick is Okiboru, a ramen restaurant known especially for its Japanese-style dipping noodles, or tsukemen.The restaurant has several Georgia locations, including Sandy Springs, Duluth, Buckhead and Buford. It also recently opened at Ponce City Market in Atlanta.
Why did Tasting Table pick Okiboru?
According to Tasting Table, Okiboru stood out for its customer reviews, critical praise and distinctive menu.
The publication highlighted the restaurant's tsukemen, along with options
such as truffle shoyu and spicy tori paitan served with chicken karaage.
Tasting Table also pointed to praise from The Infatuation, which called the restaurant a must-visit for its rich broth and springy noodles.
Unlike traditional ramen where the noodles sit directly in the broth, tsukemen is served with the noodles and concentrated dipping broth separately.
Okiboru says its noodles are made in-house from scratch, while its broth is brewed for an extended period specifically to achieve the consistency needed for dipping.
It has a Michelin connection, too
Tasting Table also highlighted Okiboru's Michelin recognition.
The restaurant originally earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in California in 2019, before expanding to the Atlanta area. Michelin's Bib Gourmand designation recognizes restaurants offering good food at a more accessible price point.
Okiboru's own website still highlights that Michelin recognition, and the restaurant has since expanded its footprint considerably.
The restaurant recently added another Atlanta location at Ponce City Market, replacing the former Ton Ton Ramen & Yakitori space. The new location brings Okiboru's ramen and tsukemen to the popular Old Fourth Ward development.
Where can you get Georgia's pick?
Okiboru currently lists Georgia locations in Sandy Springs, Duluth, Buckhead and Buford, with the Ponce City Market location recently joining the lineup.
