A former Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) teacher was indicted on Wednesday by a grand jury on charges of child molestation and sexual contact by an employee in the first degree.
Paulina Walden, a 36-year-old now former English teacher at Herschel V. Jenkins High School, was arrested by the Savannah Police Department (SPD) on May 1.
According to court records, Walden had sex with a student in the front seat of a vehicle on Nov. 21, 2025, while her 4-year-old child sat in the backseat. The alleged contact occurred off campus, according to previous Savannah Morning News reporting.
Walden was taken into custody after the Board of Education Police Department contacted SPD regarding a report of a teacher having an inappropriate
sexual relationship with a student, SPD stated.
The former teacher had worked within the SCCPSS district since September 2023. An indictment is not proof or admission of guilt.
