You don't have to cross the Atlantic to get a taste of French dining. A new Savannahrestaurant is bringing a French-inspired brasserie experience to the heart of thecity's Historic District.
Le Flaneur, the new restaurant inside Recess Hotel & Club, is set to begin dinner service Sept. 20, according to Southern Living.
The restaurant will serve French-inspired dishes throughout the day, with all-day operations planned to begin Oct. 1.
Southern Living recently got a first look at the restaurant and described the experience as feeling like a trip to Paris, highlighting dishes including escargot, steak frites and sea bass meuniere.

A French-inspired restaurant in Savannah
Le Flaneur is part of Recess Hotel & Club, a new hotel in Savannah's Historic District.
The restaurant's
name comes from the French term "flaneur," referring to an urban walker or someone who observes and takes in a city while wandering.
The concept draws from the traditional French brasserie, while incorporating Savannah and Southern influences.
The restaurant's design includes bistro-style chairs, subway tiles, varnished mirrors and brass accents. Its color palette uses mauve, burgundy, creamy off-white and dark wood rather than the traditional red-and-white look often associated with French restaurants.
Le Flaneur overlooks Johnson Square to the north and Bull Street to the west, according to Southern Living.
What's on the menu?
The restaurant's menu includes French classics and other dishes inspired by French brasserie dining.
Southern Living highlighted escargot served with garlic-parsley butter, steak frites with au poivre sauce and sea bass meunière with haricots verts, toasted almonds, brown butter and lemon.
Breakfast offerings include crepes, tartines, French omelets and pain perdu, while lunch includes soups, salads, sandwiches and dishes such as chicken paillard.
Dessert options include apple tarte Tatin and chocolate cremeux, along with a five-cheese selection featuring cheeses imported from France.
The restaurant also has a signature breakfast combination featuring a pastry or baguette, coffee and a cigarette-shaped tuile cookie.
Recess Hotel & Club history
The building originally opened as Hotel Savannah around 1912. LEFT LANE, the hospitality company behind Recess, spent more than three years transforming the property into a 221-room hotel with amenities including a lobby bar, coworking club, gym, spa, rooftop pool and ballroom.
Recess officially lists the property at 7 East Congress Street in Savannah's Historic District, with Le Flaneur as its first-floor French brasserie.
According to the restaurant's current website, Le Flâneur is open to the public, with reservations recommended but not required. Its listed hours are 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch, 3 to 5 p.m. for midday service and 5 to 10 p.m. for dinner.
