On Saturday, August 15 at 9 a.m., get ready to whip up a stunning plated dessert with executive pastry chef Tanya Alexandra Matta at Coastal Table and Tales, 408 Bull Street. Coastal Table and Tales is
Savannah’s only cookbook shop and global recreational cooking space. Saturday’s two-hour class teaches participants how to build a restaurant-worthy plate from the ground up: silky vanilla panna cotta, roasted peaches, pickled blackberries, a buttery streusel, and candied hazelnuts. Chef Tanya will provide techniques that elevate a dessert from good to unforgettable. Tickets are $125 and available at www.coastaltableandtalessavannah.com.
I mentioned a few weeks back that Madam Butterfly, Ele Tran’s Rhino Hospitality Group’s Korean BBQ restaurant, has closed at 110 West Congress Street. Last week, it was announced via Instagram that the Group is planning a new concept that will be “coming soon to Savannah.” They write, “Inspired by the dahlia, Mexico’s national flower, Casa Dahlia is a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and timeless hospitality. Designed as an immersive supper club, the space draws inspiration from the warmth, romance, and character of 1970’s Mexico City. Rich textures, candlelit interiors, natural materials, and thoughtful details come together to create an atmosphere that invites guests to slow down, connect, and stay a while.” Follow the progress of what is sure to be a top-tier restaurant at www.instagram.com/casadahliasavannah.
As highlighted last month, The 5 Spot now offers Happy Hour seven days a week from 3-6 p.m. Now comes news of a Burger & Brew special being offered every Monday from 3 p.m. until closing. Habersham Village’s 5 Spot Midtown and 5 Spot Sandfly are offering their Truckin’ Burger (juicy, double-stacked, smash patties with irresistible crispy edges, topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, American cheese, and 5 Spot Sauce on a toasted Brioche bun), a 5 Spot Lager, and Fries, for just $15. Combined with a $7 kids’ menu, that’s all the makings of a deliciously filling and affordable family night out. The restaurants will gladly switch out the Brew for a soda or tea if guests prefer.
Another beloved Savannah restaurant that consistently delivers a quality meal is the rustic chic Pacci’s Italian Kitchen & Bar inside the Kimpton Brice Hotel at 601 East Bay Street. Join them each Tuesday for “A Taste of Tuscany” from 5 to 10 p.m. and enjoy curated Italian wine flights, delicious small bites, and half-off select bottles of Tuscan wine. Let la dolce vita begin! Or you may prefer to sip, savor, and swing into the weekend with “Jazz and Prosecco” each Friday. Listen to live jazz from 6-9 p.m. and sip on Italian-inspired cocktails and Prosecco from 5-10 p.m. Find out more at www.paccisavannah.com.
Finally, on August 3, Hilton announced a culinary partnership for Signia Hilton Savannah with Grey Spaces, a Savannah-based hospitality and lifestyle company founded by James Beard Award-winning Chef Mashama Bailey and restaurateur Johno Morisano. Together, Chef Mashama and Morisano co-founded Grey Spaces and are the business partners behind The Grey, their critically acclaimed Savannah restaurant opened in 2014 in a restored, 1938 Greyhound bus terminal. The company’s work spans flagship restaurant The Grey in Savannah, L’Arrêt by The Grey in Paris and a broader portfolio of cultural projects that bring Southern cuisine to new audiences.
The 444-room Signia Hilton Savannah will serve as the headquarters hotel for the Savannah Convention Center, anchoring the city’s riverfront. It is owned by the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority and developed in partnership with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. Look for the hotel and restaurant to debut in 2028.
