Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum will bring light, sound and maritime-inspired art to its Savannah grounds for two nights in November with its third annual “Celestial Seafarers.”
The outdoor experience is scheduled for Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., according to a community announcement. Eleven artists will create nautical-inspired light, sound and multimedia installations inside the museum and throughout its gardens at 41 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

This year’s theme, “Voyage of the Seven Seas,” draws on maritime exploration, myths and legends from around the world.
“The Ships of the Sea garden is magical after dark,” Executive Director Molly Carrott Taylor said. “Guests will enjoy a completely different vibe at night.”

The participating artists are Joshua Alexander, Shae Benezra, Greg Finger, Marcus Kenney, Kevin Kirkwood, Abigail Portner, Kristopher Maedke-Russell, Allen Peterson, Todd Schroeder, Matt Toole and Matt Van Rys.

Their work spans several disciplines, including digital and interactive art, sound design, painting, sculpture, filmmaking, projection mapping, performance, metalwork and multimedia installation.
“This year, we’ll have more light and sound than ever before,” Taylor said. “We are so excited to welcome local residents and visitors to join us for ‘Celestial Seafarers’ on Nov. 5 and 6 and to enjoy an immersive art and maritime experience specially created by talented local artists.”
Drinks will be available for purchase, with proceeds from “Celestial Seafarers” benefiting Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum programming.
