As students across Effingham County prepare to return to classrooms next week, the school district is releasing important information on its website to ensure parents are informed ahead of the Aug. 5 start date to the 2026-2027 school year.
Here are four things to know before the first day of school.
Back-to-school bash
Action Pact, Inc. is partnering with the Effingham County School District and the Effingham County Recreation Department for the 14th Back2School Blowout.
The event is held to help families gear up for the school with back-to-school essentials. Come out from 4-7 p.m. July 29 at the Clarence E. Morgan Complex.
"Last year, hundreds of families in our area were provided with back-to-school essentials to help children jump-start a productive school year,"
reads a statement from the school district's Facebook page. "We are gearing up to make this year even better."
Schedules
Calling all high schoolers! The Effingham County School District says schedules are ready for review.
"Log into your Student or Parent Portal right now to check out your classes, teachers, and daily routines so you're ready to hit the ground running on day one," says the ECSD. Click here to find your classes.
Immunization
The Effingham County School District says students who do not have an updated immunization certificate will be prohibited from attending any school in the county this year, and so urge parents to reach out to their child's pediatrician or local health department for more assistance.
New guidelines
ECSD has rolled out a couple of new safety guidelines they say will keep students safe. They must utilize clear plastic cups and bottles (no metal), clear bags are required for visitors attending extracurricular events and non-metal binders are recommended.
Open house
Open house meetings are planned from 4-7 p.m. July 30 for all elementary schools and 4-7 p.m. Aug. 3 for middle and high schools. As a new school year draws near, parents are encouraged to attend the open house for their respective school to meet their students' new teachers and view their classroom.
