Applications open for Savannah Junior Cultural Affairs Commission Program
Applications have just opened for the City of Savannah Junior Cultural Affairs Commission Program, a free volunteer opportunity for students in grades 9-12 to become directly involved in the culture and arts of our community. Participants will gain six or more volunteer hours and firsthand experience of what it means to be an active advocate for the arts. Get tickets for 'Front Row Seats to the End of the World'
Meet Joshua Yates at the opening of his solo show “Front Row Seats to the End of the World.” Josh, the co-founder and board president of the newly opened Savannah Center for Photography displays a collection of black and white photographs shot in abandoned and lost places throughout America
using medium and large format film. Each image features a recurring motif: the empty chair “as a monument to absence, offering a glimpse as to what remains behind after we’re gone.” Often disturbingly sad, but always hauntingly beautiful.

Season 14 of Savannah Voice Festival brings concerts, opera through Aug. 16
Friday, Aug. 7 marks the beginning of Sunny Days & Starry Nights: Season 14 of the Savannah Voice Festival. Co-founded by acclaimed operatic baritone Sherrill Milnes and by educator, director, writer and producer Maria Zouves, the Festival offers a wide selection of musical events in a variety of both secular and nonsecular settings through Aug. 16, including a performance of Mozart’s two-act opera “The Magine Flute” at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Asbury Memorial Church. 'Anastasia’ comes to the Lucas Theatre’s Summer Film Series
The Lucas Theatre’s “Once Upon a Summer” series continues with the screening of “Anastasia.” From filmmaker Don Bluth, one of animation’s most cherished creative legacies, comes this sweeping and charming musical favorite. Follow the journey from imperial Russia to the streets of Paris of a young woman (voice of Meg Ryan) as she tries to discover if she may be the long-lost imperial Princess Anastasia. The all-star vocal cast includes Angela Lansbury, John Cusack, and Bernadette Peters. Tickets are $5 for SCAD Card holders, students, seniors, and military, and $8 for the public. Children aged 12 and under receive free admission.

Free adult yoga classes offered weekly at Live Oak Public Library
Live Oak Public Library offers free weekly adult yoga classes. An all-levels 11 a.m. vinyasa-style mat yoga class links breath to movement; bring your own mat and block. Unable to get up from the floor easily? Consider taking the gentle chair yoga class at noon which utilizes a chair for seated and supported standing postures to build strength and balance. Maximum capacity of 36 people per class.

Savannah Rep announces open auditions for 2026-27 Season
Itching to tread the boards again? Whether you have years of stage experience or haven’t acted since college days, you may want to try out in the open auditions for the Savannah Repertory Theatre’s 2026/2027 season. Auditions are held at Front Porch Improv on a first come, first served basis. Prepare two contrasting monologues and bring an 8x10 headshot and resume. The deadline for video submissions is Monday, Aug. 10. Casting is for three shows: “Popcorn Falls” in November; “Doll’s House Part 2” in February; and “Constellations” in April.
