OpenAI has opened an office in Rincon that company officials say will help them connect with Effingham County residents about Project Camellia.
The office is located in The Enterprise Building, also home to the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority. OpenAI did not respond to questions from the Savannah Morning News about how many will be staffed there or whether the office fits into OpenAI's broader expansion plans in Georgia. However, a spokesperson elaborated on their decision to establish a presence there.
"The office will house team members focused on developing our Effingham County data center, giving the team a local base as we continue working with the community," a spokesperson from OpenAI said. "We want to be part of the fabric
of the Effingham County community—building lasting relationships, supporting local businesses, and learning from the people who call it home. Our decision to lease space at the IDA reflects that commitment. The office will house team members focused on developing our data center, and we look forward to being an engaged neighbor."
