Georgiadrivers are getting some relief at the pump, but another change could be coming in November.
The state's average price for regular gasoline is currently $3.7313 per gallon, down from $3.8050 a week ago and $4.0947 a month ago, according to the AAA.
The recent decline comes as Georgia's motor fuel tax remains suspended.
Georgia's gas tax suspension
Gov. Brian Kemp suspended Georgia's state motor fuel excise tax beginning Sept. 29. The suspension was later extended and is now scheduled to remain in effect through 11:59 p.m. Nov. 5, 2026.
Georgia's motor fuel excise tax had been 33.3 cents per gallon for gasoline and 37.3 cents for diesel before the current suspension.
The tax suspension does not mean every tax on gasoline has disappeared. Georgia's Department of Revenue
says prepaid local sales tax and other local taxes have not been suspended.

What Georgia drivers should know
For now, the latest figures show a clear short-term decline in Georgia's average gas prices, particularly compared with where prices stood one month ago.
However, prices vary by location and individual gas station, so drivers may see prices above or below the statewide average.
