As fall temperatures settlein across the country, homeownersmay find themselves constantly adjusting the thermostat in search of that just-right indoor temperature.
But experts at Georgia Air, a Savannah-based HVAC company, say finding the perfect setting doesn’t have to be a guessing game, or an expensive one.
What should you set your thermostat to for fall?
According to Georgia Air, the magic number for fall is 68 degrees. It strikes the right balance between comfort and energy efficiency, especially in a mild fall climate.
"Keeping the thermostat at a steady 68 degrees helps maintain an indoor temperature that’s about the same as outside," Georgia Air wrote. "This consistent temperature reduces strain on your HVAC equipment and energy costs while keeping humidity levels manageable."
Keeping
your thermostat setting within a few degrees of the outdoor temperature can save up to 5% on your energy bill, the company adds.
When did fall 2026 officially start?
Fall officially started on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Fall ends on Monday, Dec. 21.
