There is a change in traffic flow in some areas of Bluffton as the Bridge Street streetscape project is now underway, town officials said.
Construction on the project began Sept. 14 and drivers were to expect a one-lane closure and traffic delays early that week, a Town of Bluffton spokesperson said. Bridge Street was also expected to be closed to through traffic by the middle of that week between Calhoun Street and Wharf Street.
“Residents, property owners and guests with destinations within the work zone will continue to have access,” the spokesperson said.

All other drivers in the area will be able to follow a detour around the construction work until the project is completed.
Bridge Street, the spokesperson said, is expected to reopen to through
traffic in approximately eight weeks and construction will continue through April 2027.
The dates are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
“Please follow all posted signs and detours,” the spokesperson said.
