A new grant will help fund improvements to a local park in Pooler, bringing the community one step closer to a planned trail project designed to expand outdoor recreation opportunities for residents.
Mayor Karen Williams announced on her Facebook page that the Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded the city an $800,000 grant for the Pooler Park-to-Park Trail Project.

"This important investment marks a significant milestone as we work to create a safe and connected trail linking Roger Street Park and the Pooler Recreation Park, enhancing recreational opportunities and improving connectivity for residents and visitors alike," said Williams on social media. "The City will also follow up to apply for a grant for funds to install the trail."
Williams went on to say the investment is another step in the city's commitment to invest in quality of life and the community's future.
"Their efforts continue to bring meaningful improvements to Pooler and we look forward to seeing this exciting project move forward," she said.
