The final price tag on the Savannah Cotton Exchange is in, according to latest property transfers.
The Cotton Exchange sold for $8.2 million to Cotton Exchange LLC. The details of the sale were first reported by the Savannah Agenda.
The historic building, located on Bay Street with River Street views, will be transformed into a natural history museum. The planned museum use was revealed alongside plans to renovate the River Street façade, according to reporting by the Savannah Morning News.
The River Street façade renovations will restore historic features from the Drayton Street ramp down to River Street, while adding a glass storefront to a walkway below the underpass, according to reporting by the Morning News. The renovations were designed
by local J. Elder Studio.

The Cotton Exchange was sold by Solomon’s Lodge No. 1, which operated the property as a Masonic Lodge for 50 years. The lodge sold the property due to challenges with declining membership and rising needs to maintain the property.
The property sold just below its initially publicized list price of $10 million. The property went on the market in December 2025.
