A new splash pad in Savannah's Windsor Forest community is set to open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at 12421 Woodley Rd.
Mayor Van R. Johnson II, City Manager Jay Melder, District 6 Alderman Kurtis Purtee and community partners will participate in the event, according to a community announcement.
The 35-by-35-foot splash pad cost $115,000 and includes six water features, a user-activation button and an automatic shutoff system. The facility is located in the Windsor Forest community and is designed to provide an additional recreation option for residents.
The project is part of the city's Recreation Reimagined Initiative, which includes renovations and new installations at 11 splash pads across Savannah, according
to the announcement. City officials say the initiative is intended to improve recreation facilities and expand access for residents.
