
One man is behind bars after deputies in Effingham County seized more than 150 pounds of marijuana.
According to a news release by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office, 23-year-old Mikell Berry was arrested on a number of charges, including possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute and trafficking.
The arrest occurred Aug. 31 when the ECSO's drug suppression unit, along with the FBI and other agencies conducted a search at the home on Del A Rae Circle in Guyton where authorities found more than a dozen guns and suppressors, $18,000 in cash and marijuana. As deputies searched the property, a 2026 Chevy Corvette Stingray was also seized.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are pending, officials said.
