Former Georgia U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is criticizing President Donald Trumpover rising fuel prices after she said she paid nearly $234 to fill her boat at a Lake Lanier marina.
Greene, who represented Georgia's 14th Congressional District before resigning from Congress in January, posted about the fuel purchase on X, formerly Twitter, over the weekend.
She said she paid $5.99 per gallon for 37.2 gallons of fuel, for a total of more than $233.
In the post, Greene referenced her family's history of boating on Lake Sinclair and Lake Lanier and said she has been paying marina fuel prices for more than 35 years.
She criticized Trump over the price and referenced his past "drill baby drill" messaging and promises about lowering gas costs.
Georgia gas prices are above $4
Greene's
marina purchase was well above the statewide average for regular gasoline.
As of Sept. 21, AAAlisted Georgia's average regular gasoline price at $4.09 per gallon. The state's average was up from $4.02 a week earlier and $2.91 a year earlier.
The $5.99 price Greene reported was also a price at a marina, rather than the statewide average for gasoline sold at retail gas stations.
Diesel prices have also reached records
Greene also criticized the Trump administration over diesel prices in a separate X post Sunday.
She wrote that Trump had "just beat Biden" with the highest diesel price in history and cited a price of $6.50 per gallon.
Nationally, AAA'sdiesel average was about $6.48 per gallon on Sept. 20. By Sept. 21, AAA listed the national average at about $6.51 per gallon.
Georgia's diesel average was $6.35 per gallon on Sept. 20, according to AAA. The state's record average was set Sept. 19 at about $6.35 per gallon.
The national diesel average is now above the previous national record of $5.816 per gallon, which AAA identifies as having been set June 19, 2022.
Greene has continued criticizing Trump over fuel costs
The Lake Lanier post was not Greene's only criticism of fuel prices over the weekend.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, Greene posted that people who had complained about gas prices during the Biden administration but were now silent about higher prices were being dishonest.
On Sunday, she posted again about diesel prices, arguing that higher diesel costs affect transportation and other parts of the economy.
Greene's posts come as fuel prices have climbed across Georgia and the country.
AAA said Monday that Georgia's average gasoline price was $4.09 per gallon, $1.18 higher than a year ago. The organization attributed the elevated prices to current market conditions and said there was no clear indication of when meaningful relief would arrive.
The national gasoline average was about $4.48 per gallon on Sept. 20, according to AAA.
Greene resigned from Congress on Jan. 5, 2026. Republican Clay Fuller later won the special election to fill the Georgia 14th District seat and was sworn into Congress in April.
