Ever wanted to own a bumper car? Now you might actually get the chance.
Fun Spot America Atlantais auctioning off its remaining rides, arcade games and other equipment after the Fayetteville amusement park permanently closed at the end of July.
The online auction includes bumper cars, bumper boats, kiddie rides, a 50-foot drop ride and a carousel, among other amusement park equipment.
So yes, someone could potentially take home a piece of the former Georgia amusement park.
What is Fun Spot America auctioning?
The auction is being conducted online through Bramsey, with bidding scheduled to remain open until Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.
Potential buyers can also inspect the items in person at the former park before bidding closes.
Among the items up for auction are:
- Bumper cars
- Bumper boats
- Kiddie rides
- A 50-foot drop ride
- A carousel
- Arcade games
- Skee-ball machines
- Restaurant equipment
The carousel had a current bid
of $16,800 as of Sept. 28. Bids can change as the auction continues.
So, can you really buy a bumper car?
The bumper cars are included in the online auction inventory, meaning they are among the items available for bidding.
The auction does not mean someone can simply walk in and buy one for a set price. Interested buyers have to participate in the auction process, and the final prices will depend on the bidding.
And if your dream is to recreate an amusement park in your backyard, you'll have to figure out the logistics yourself. The auction information does not say where the rides will ultimately go or who is bidding on them.
What happened to Fun Spot America Atlanta?
The Fayetteville park permanently closed at the end of July after operating in the community for decades under different names.
The attraction originally opened in the early 1990s as Dixieland Fun Park before eventually becoming Fun Spot America Atlanta. Fun Spot America purchased the property in 2017.
One of the park's biggest attractions, ArieForce One, is not part of the current auction.
Six Flags acquired the roller coaster separately and plans to dismantle, move and rebuild it at one of its parks, with a return planned for the 2028 or 2029 operating season. The new location has not been announced.
That leaves plenty of other pieces of the former park up for grabs, including the bumper cars.
