A fan-favorite Georgiaroller coasteris getting a second chance.
Six Flags has acquiredArieForce One, the massive steel roller coaster that became one of the biggest attractions at the former Fun Spot America Atlanta in Fayetteville.
The company announced Tuesday that ArieForce One will return at one of its parks during the 2028-2029 operating seasons, ending weeks of uncertainty surrounding the fate of the coaster after Fun Spot America Atlanta closed in August.
The catch? Six Flags has not said where the coaster will go.
For Georgia coaster fans, however, one question remains: Could ArieForce One come back home?
Six Flags operates 20 amusement parks across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, but the company has not identified which park will receive the ride.
WhenUSA TODAY asked Six Flags where the coaster could eventually be installed, the company said it is considering multiple parks and expects to make a decision by the end of the year.
"ArieForce One is a world-class coaster," Six Flags said, adding that it wants to place the ride at the park where it can provide the best guest experience.
What happened to ArieForce One?
ArieForce One opened at Fun Spot America Atlanta in Fayetteville on March 31, 2023.
The 154-foot-tall coaster quickly developed a following among roller coaster enthusiasts and became one of the park's signature attractions.
But Fun Spot America Atlanta closed permanently on Aug. 2, and shutting ArieForce One with it.
Now, the coaster's story isn't over.
Fun Spot America CEO John Arie Jr. said the company is pleased that the attraction will continue operating rather than being dismantled permanently.
"Its story isn't ending, it's beginning a new chapter," Arie said in the announcement.
How big is ArieForce One?
The coaster stands approximately 15 stories tall and reaches speeds of 64 mph.
The ride features:
- A 154-foot height
- A 146-foot first drop
- Approximately 3,400 feet of track
- Four inversions
- A ride time of about two minutes
- The world's largest zero-gravity stall
- A Raven Truss Dive
- An outward-banked airtime hill
- Multiple high-intensity airtime moments
The coaster was manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction, a company known for its high-intensity steel coasters.
ArieForce One also earned industry recognition, including the 2023 Golden Ticket Award for Best New Attraction.
Will Six Flags change the name?
No.
Six Flags said it plans to keep the ArieForce One name.
The name honors Fun Spot America founder John Arie Sr., keeping a connection to the coaster's Georgia roots even after it moves to a new park.
Where will ArieForce One go?
That's the part fans will have to wait for.
Six Flags has not announced the coaster's new location. The company said additional information about its future home, construction timeline and reopening plans will come later.
What is certain is that ArieForce One will ride again, just not in Fayetteville.
