Pooler is one scoop of dirt closer to bringing lifesaving emergency care to the area. On Wednesday officials broke ground for the Memorial Health Pooler Emergency Room.
“We are here today to celebrate a significant impact for our residents of not only Pooler, but of West Chatham," said Pooler Mayor Karen Williams before giving an excited yell. “I am so, so excited because we have lost residents. Residents have died in Pooler because we could not get them to an ER or to an ambulance fast enough.”

The 12,000 square foot freestanding emergency room will be located at Mosaic Town Center. The facility will offer 12 patient exam rooms and create more than 25 health care jobs.
“We're not just building a new facility,” Emergency Medical Director Dr. Katie
Dean said. “We're bringing lifesaving emergency care closer to the people who live and work in Pooler and the surrounding communities. I want to emphasize something important. This will be a fully equipped emergency department, not an urgent care center.”

Around the clock medical care will be provided, including advanced diagnostic capabilities, CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds and on-site laboratory services. For patients needing hospitalization an ambulance will transport them to the main campus.
“The new freestanding emergency room represents an $18 million investment in the health and well-being of our growing region, and we anticipate opening doors in the fall of 2027,” said Bradley Talbert, CEO of Memorial Health. “When you look at our new Pooler campus and now this emergency room, that's a combined $46 million of investment in expanding access to health care in this community.”
