More than 120 employers to attend RISE Job Palooza
Looking for a new career? Meet employers actively hiring in Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty and Screven counties at the RISE (Regional Industry Support Enterprise) Job Palooza, the region’s largest hiring event Wednesday, Sept. 2. The one-day fair drew 124 employers and more than 2,400 job seekers last year. Open to all job seekers, there are no parking fees at the arena, and the first 300 seekers who complete a survey will receive a meal voucher to use at the Arena that day. WorkSource Coastal provides on-site resume assistance, including creating and printing. If you have a resume, plan to bring copies for potential employers but WorkSource Coastal can assist if you do not have access to a printer. Job seekers will also

Pulitzer-winning historian to be inducted and host talk on colonial America and the revolution
Join the Georgia Historical Society for the induction of Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Alan Taylor as the 2026 Vincent J. Dooley Distinguished Teaching Fellow. Following the induction, Taylor will discuss his acclaimed scholarship on colonial America, the American Revolution, and the early American Republic. A two-time Pulitzer Prize recipient and Bancroft Prize winner, he is one of the nation’s leading historians of early American history. A book signing and book sales will follow the program which is free and open to the public.
