A Mexican restaurant that served the Lubbock community for 25 years closed its doors for the final time over the weekend.
Nora's Mexican Restaurant, located at 417 Frankford Ave., announced via social media that the longtime restaurant closed on Saturday, Aug. 1.
"Good morning my beautiful family and friends, after 25 incredible years, it is with a heavy heart that I announce the closing of Nora’s Mexican Food Restaurant," the owner, Nora, stated in the social media post. "Twenty-five years isn’t measured just in the meals you served. It’s measured in birthdays celebrated, anniversaries, graduations, business meetings, family gatherings, and ordinary days that became special because people chose to spend them at Nora’s."
This goodbye brought fans
to the comment section, sharing stories and saying their own goodbyes to Nora's. A day later, Nora returned to social media to state that the closure is health-related for her husband, Sergio.
"Sergio always placed the restaurant before his health, it has became too difficult for him to keep working," Nora stated. "I had to make the decision to place his health as a priority. What we need most right now are your prayers. We ask prayers for strength, wisdom, healing, and peace as we walk this unexpected journey together."
Nora's is the latest closure for 2026, which has seen the end of Big Chicken, Dusty Coast Sodas, F&F Japanese Grill, Alamo Drafthouse and The Roof.
