Frenship ISDis being represented on the national stage this month as students and educators from both Frenship High School and Memorial High School receive some of the highest honors awarded by the National FFA Organization during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
With a national proficiency finalist, a national voting delegate, a 3-Star National Chapter designation, and an Honorary American FFA Degree recipient, Frenship ISD FFA students and teachers will proudly represent the South Plains area and the State of Texas at the highest level, placing them among the nation’s top FFA organizations, according to a news release from the district.
Frenship High School senior Karter Bowen has been named one of the top four National
Finalists in the National FFA Swine Production Proficiency Award category. The award recognizes outstanding student achievement, skill development, and entrepreneurship in swine production.
Bowen will compete against the nation's top finalists, with the national winner set to be announced on the National FFA stage during convention ceremonies on Friday.

In addition to being a top national finalist, Bowen also serves as the Texas FFA Area 1 First Vice President and has been selected as a national voting delegate for the State of Texas. In this role, she will represent over 180,000 Texas FFA members and participate in the delegate process that helps shape the future direction of the National FFA Organization.
“Karter is a wonderful example of how hard work and dedication can lead to extraordinary success, both for herself and for those around her. She embodies what our chapter strives for: working hard, staying committed to our goals, and pursuing success at the highest level,” said Frenship High School Ag teacher and FFA advisor Matthew Huston. “This award is an impressive accomplishment, but above all it reflects the commitment Karter brings to everything she does.”
The Memorial High School FFA Chapter is already making history and creating a legacy in its first year of existence. The MHS FFA will be recognized on Thursday as a 3-Star National FFA Chapter, the highest chapter rating awarded by the National FFA Organization.

The National FFA evaluates chapters through a rigorous review of their program of activities, leadership development initiatives, community engagement efforts, and agricultural education programming. A 3-Star rating signifies that a chapter has achieved the highest level of excellence in all evaluation areas and is considered one of the most outstanding FFA chapters in the nation.
To earn this honor, chapters must first meet all National Quality Chapter Standards, earn a state Gold ranking, and complete at least 15 activities across leadership, growing members, and building communities divisions. The chapter's activities are then evaluated nationally to determine the highest-performing programs across the country.
For Memorial High School, the recognition is especially significant because it was achieved during the school's inaugural year, earning them a spot among only 25 Texas chapters to receive the national award and in the top 5% of chapters across the country to receive a 3 star rating.
“It's a huge accomplishment and it's really humbling for us and our students to have this opportunity to be recognized on such a high level, especially in our first year. I think it's a testament to our students’ hard work and dedication,” said Memorial High School Ag teacher and FFA advisor Amanda Spacek. “To be here at the National Convention in our first year, and seeing so many Memorial High School jackets in the sea of other blue FFA jackets just amplifies our pride and I am so proud of the amount of time and effort these students have put in.”
Adding to the celebration, Memorial High School Head Agricultural Science Teacher Ryan Pieniazek will also receive the Honorary American FFA Degree, the highest national honorary award presented by the National FFA Organization. The award recognizes individuals who have provided exceptional service to agriculture, agricultural education, and FFA at the national level.
The recognition places Memorial High School's agricultural education program among a distinguished group of educators and supporters who have made a lasting impact on agricultural leadership and student success.
From individual achievement and student leadership to chapter excellence and educator recognition, Frenship's agricultural education programs continue to make an impact at the state and national levels. As thousands of FFA members gather in Indianapolis this week, Frenship ISD will proudly celebrate students and educators who continue to raise the bar and represent the district at the highest level.
