The Texas Tech football team was without the services of two key starters on defense against Abilene Christian, and the Red Raiders will miss them again in Week 2.
Head coach Joey McGuire said Monday that San Diego State transfer edge rusher Trey White (knee) will be out for this week's game at Oregon State. White suffered an injury late in preseason camp, McGuire said before the opener he would be considered week-to-week.
McGuire said the hope is to have White back for Week 3 against Houston. Texas Tech could see the debut of touted freshman LaDamion Guyton, who also missed the ACU game with a back issue.
"As long as he continues to feel the way he feels," McGuire said of Guyton, "then I expect LaDamion to play, and that gives us another weapon
off the edge, which will be really good."
Texas Tech will also be without starting safety Brenden Jordan, who McGuire said is serving a two-game suspension for a violation of team rules.
