TheLubbock CountyClerk's Office is offering a service to help residents from fraudsters seeking to steal their property.
Fraud Notify creates a registry that alerts property owners any time a document such as deeds, deeds of trust, liens and notices are filed at the county clerk's office using their registered name, according to a news release from the office.
The new service, offered by Tyler Technologies, aims to protect Lubbock County residents from property fraud, a white-collar crime in which thieves record documents against properties to establish ownership for financial gain, the release states.
Residents registered with the system can review the documents in person at the County Clerk's office at 904 Broadway Room 207 Lubbock, TX or purchase
a copy.
Registration to the service is free and can be done at https://www.lubbockcounty.gov
