Plainview police on Friday were searching for a 32-year-old man accused in a shooting that left another man hospitalized earlier in the day.
Jeremiah Gonzales, 32, faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the shooting that was reported shortly before 11 a.m. Oct. 9, according to a statement from Plainview police.
Officers initially responded to Covenant Hospital Plainview, where staff reported a 34-year-old man was being treated for a gunshot wound.
Investigators believe the man had been threatened by Gonzales in the 2800 block of Houston Street before Gonzales fired two shots. One of the bullets struck the man, who was not immediately identified.
Gonzales is accused of fleeing the scene in a Chevrolet Tahoe as the wounded
man was taken to the emergency room. The vehicle was later recovered. Police say a warrant for Gonzales was obtained based on information from the man who was shot as well as video surveillance.
Gonzales is described as 5 feet, 10 inches in height weighing 225 pounds with brown hair, hazel eyes and a large neck tattoo. Anyone with information about his location is urged to call 911 and not approach him.
If you have information, or were a witness to the offense, please contact Detective Nieto or Captain Balderas at the Plainview Police Department via dispatch at (806) 296-1182.
