Standout running back Bo Davis remains ineligible for varsity sports after the UIL State Executive Committee reached a stalemate Monday. The District 2-5A Division I Executive Committee previously voted to make him ineligible, and because of a 2-2 vote by the SEC, the decision of the DEC stands.
Davis transferred from Lubbock High to Frenship Memorial earlier this year.
Davis was the Avalanche-Journal's 2025 big-school football newcomer of the year after rushing for 1,349 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore for the Westerners. He transferred to Memorial in February, according to testimony during Monday's public hearing.
The DEC voted 4-2 that he changed schools for athletic purposes in violation of UIL rule. SEC members Glen Teal and Stephanie
Behrens voted to grant Davis' appeal, while James Colbert and Frank Molinar voted to deny. Davis will be unable to participate in varsity competition for the Panthers, who are entering their first varsity campaign.
