A 24-year-old man was sentenced Friday to 50 years in prison for a deadly shooting last year at a north Lubbock bar.
Jurors deliberated for about two hours before returning to the 364th District Court with the half-century prison sentence after finding Victor Yanez guilty the day before of murder in the April 14, 2025 shooting death
of 38-year-old Joshua Rios at the El Santiago bar in the 1800 block of Clovis Road.Yanez, who has been held at the Lubbock County Detention Center since April 17, 2025, will have to serve half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

The verdict follows a trial during which
prosecutors presented video evidence that showed Yanez shooting Rios six times from the front passenger window of his girlfriend's vehicle as he stood alone on the sidewalk near the bar's parking lot.
