Early voting starts Oct. 19, and let’s talk turkey, Lubbock: What in the Sam Hill are these Republicans running on? A whole lot of nothing.
Look around. Lubbock’s got the highest electricity prices in the state, and Gov. Greg Abbott hasn’t lifted a finger for us. Property taxes?
They just keep climbing, every blessed year he’s been in office. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and State Sen. Charles Perry wouldn’t know a real plan for public school funding if it bit ‘em on the ankle, and they flat-out refuse to listen to us on THC, AI data centers, or our privacy against Flock cameras.
Meanwhile, Tom Sell and Texas Attorney Gen. Ken Paxton are too busy playing national politics to care about the average working-man Texan.
And right here at home in Lubbock County?
Good grief. They’ve sold us out. They voted themselves a fat 2% pay raise while slashing our volunteer firefighters to the bone. We’ve had drunken campaign displays, and now the latest jaw-dropper: taxpayers funding two GOP commissioners for Precinct 2 at the exact same time for months—and everybody claims, "Aw shucks, I didn't know." Pure hogwash. Shame!
Independent conservatives, I know you’re fed up. You believe in lower taxes, local control against big-state meddling, and the old West Texas value of "live and let live." Well, the current bunch running the courthouse don't share your values; they just want your vote.
It’s time for the decades of us acting like prairie dog Democrats—peeking out of our holes while the GOP points and laughs—to end. We need to come out of those holes and build a serious, inclusive majority. As the great Texan Barbara Jordan said, “we Democrats believe in an inclusive rather than an exclusive party; let everybody come.”
Let’s send a signal this November, Lubbock. Vote for a Democratic County Clerk to guarantee fair administration and act as a watchdog over this Republican mess. Give the Democrats a second look. It’s time to throw the rascals out.
