Three months after Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Tech Physicians dropped UnitedHealthcare Insurance, a deal has been reached, according to a news release issued Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The university confirmed that the effective date of the agreement has been retroactively set back to April 1, 2026, so no lapse in participation happened for the commercial and Medicare Advantage participation agreements.
“Thank you to our patients for your continued understanding and to our teammates for your hard work during this process,” said Martin Clay, TTP executive director. “We know periods of uncertainty can be difficult, and we sincerely appreciate the trust our patients placed in us. Their support, along with the commitment of our team,
helped us reach a positive resolution with UnitedHealthcare so we can continue focusing on what matters most — providing exceptional care to the communities we serve.”
Patients covered by UnitedHealthcare can continue with TTP's providers and keep their appointments as planned. Services provided during the termination period previously classified as out-of-network will be reclassified and reprocessed as in-network once UnitedHealthcare gets TTP back into their systems.
Self-pay services provided during the lapse "may qualify to have their claims submitted to UHC for consideration under their in-network benefits. Limitations may include authorization requirements, timely filing requirements and other contractual or benefit-driven policies," according to texastechphysicians.com/united-healthcare.aspx.
Customer service for TTP can be reached at 806-414-9720.
