Lubbock's Buddy Holly Center is inviting the community to celebrate its namesake rock 'n' roll legend's milestone birthday at the Buddy Holly’s 90th Birthday Bash on Sept. 7.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Labor Day at the center located at 1801 Crickets Ave., according to a news release from the city.
The event will celebrate what would have been the 90th birthday ofLubbock's famous native son, who made a lasting impact on the music world before his untimely death in a 1959 plane crash.
Monday's event will feature activities for people of all ages, including:
- Tour the historic J.I. Allison House, open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Trivia challenge at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Guided gallery tour at 1:30 p.m.
- Live musical performance by Dustin Garrett and Shae Arnett at 2:30 p.m.
- Family-friendly activities for all ages all day
- Sweet treats and giveaways
Light refreshments will be available in the afternoon.
