Lubbock likes to think of itself as strong and tough. A place that still appreciates calloused hands and straight talk. But now, you’re in a bit of a quandary.
You’ve voted straight-ticket Republican your whole lives, trusting the badge wearers and the suits down at City Hall and the County Courthouse. And what have you gotten for your loyalty? A knife right between the shoulder blades.
Let’s talk about the flim-flammers running this town. Take Mayor Mark McBrayer. Look you dead in the eye earlier this year and this summer and say the City Council wasn't considering any new large-scale data centers all while knowing there were plans in the works to build a "not-hyperscale" but still significant data center on LEDA-owned property right off Municipal
Drive. Not a peep until media reported the deal in late July!
They sold us out behind closed doors, treating the plain people of this county like fools who wouldn't notice, all while hiding behind semantics and excuses.
And then there’s County Commissioner Jason Corley.
While blockwalking for scandal-plagued Ken Paxton—a slick Austin politician who wouldn’t know a hard day’s work if it bit him—Corley treats a constituent’s doorstep like a honky-tonk, leaving empty whiskey bottle trash behind.
That ain't conservative values or good manners. That’s pure arrogance. That’s elite contempt for those people’s property.
It’s time to shake off the blinders. What happened to local control? What happened to looking out for the Texas economy and the working stiff instead of corporate data centers?
I invite you—our conservative, independent, common-sense neighbors—to really take a look at the ballot choices this year. There are some candidates out there who aren’t about the fancy parlor games of the Austin elites.
Men like Riley Rodriquez are about the Texas economy, fierce local control against a heavy-handed state government, and West Texas values of honesty, grit, and respect. We believe in the same God, the same flag, and the same honest day's labor for an honest day's pay.
You’ve been stabbed in the back by the local good old boy club. Had enough of the lies, the trash, and the sellouts? There’s a remedy for every working person tired of being played for a sucker. You don’t have to become a Democrat, just vote like one. This November, let’s send a message they’ll never forget: Had enough? Vote Democratic. The butt you save might be your own.
