Lubbock Meals on Wheels seeks volunteers
Lubbock Meals on Wheels is in need of volunteer drivers, both regular and substitute, each weekday to deliver meals. Individuals do not need to commit to a set schedule to volunteer for LMOW.
Some drivers prefer to take the same route on the same day each week whereas others prefer to just substitute when needed. For many of our recipients, the LMOW volunteer may be the only person they see during the day.
Each route takes approximately one hour to deliver. Most routes have 10-16 clients.
A background check and one hour orientation is required for all delivery volunteers.
If you would like to try us out first, we can pair you up with one of our volunteers for a ride-along. To schedule that, call at (806)792-7971.
Delivery volunteer opportunities are available from 10:45 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. Non-delivery volunteer opportunities are available throughout the day Monday through Friday.
Anyone interested in volunteering can call (806) 792-7971.

CASA needs volunteer advocates
CASA of the South Plains is actively needing 40 more volunteer advocates by the end of the year to help change the lives of children in foster care in our community.
CASA currently serves approximately 400 children across six counties, however there is still an additional 400 children in foster care without a Volunteer Advocate.
CASA Volunteer Advocates walk alongside children who are experiencing unimaginable things during their time in foster care. CASA desperately needs committed individuals in our community to give 10-15 hours a month of their time to become a Volunteer Advocate. Over the next two months, CASA of the South Plains will be hosting multiple CASA 101 Informational Sessions. This will provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about the pivotal role CASA Volunteers play in the lives of a children in foster care.
Individuals can register for these CASA 101 Informational Sessions at www.casaofthesouthplains.org or contact Tabitha Rendon, Community Outreach Director, at tabithar@casaofthesouthplains.org.
