September brought an interesting mix of business shifts to Lubbock, from the closure of Velvet Taco to the big move for CE Blades. Here's a look at what opened, closed and changed for the Hub City.
In 2023,
September saw 22 business announcements reported by the A-J. September 2024 saw at least 14. For 2025, September had at least 19. This year reported at least 21.
New restaurants and businesses of September 2026
Bargain Bins LBK
What: This bargain shop announced it was moving from 3225 50th St., Unit 4, giving them more space.
When: Sept. 4.

CE Blades

What: This locally-owned business moved out of the mall and continues to offer knives, swords and collectibles.

Fellowship Auto Repair
What: This auto repair shop completed a move to a larger space with a comfortable waiting area.
When: Sept. 11.
Where: 2139 Baylor Dr.
Grocery Services North, second location
What: This is the second location in Lubbock for the grocery chain that only stocks WIC approved inventory.
When: Sept. 2.
Where: 1301 50th St. #6.
Landmark Bar & Kitchen
What: This new restaurant, the third of the Landmark brand, will cook from scratch, offer cold drinks, and has a mechanical bull named Buckshot.
When: Sept. 28.
Where: 5802 W. Loop 289.
LaserAway
What: This aesthetic dermatology clinic brand opened its 232nd location, the first in Lubbock. It offers "a full range of non- and minimally-invasive aesthetic services, including laser hair removal, Botox, dermal fillers, skin rejuvenation and body contouring treatments such as CoolSculpting and Thermage," according to a company news release.
When: Sept. 23.

Now Trending
What: A local family business, which started last year, completed a move. This shop sells trending items, including Labubus and anime-themed inventory.
When: Sept. 24.

Panhandle Nutrition Therapy
What: This nutrition facility, based in Amarillo, opened a Lubbock office. It offers "support with diabetes, women’s health, pregnancy & postpartum, pediatric nutrition, GI concerns, heart health, weight management, or simply building a healthier relationship with food," according to its Facebook.
When: Sept. 14.
Where: 5233 79th St.
The Bullpen - C’s UP x LT
What: The Bullpen offers baseball and softball cage rentals, team rentals, private lessons, small-group training, clinics, and instructors.
When: Sept. 1.

Tru Boutique
What: The trend of new boutique shops opening continued into September with this Christian-centric clothing boutique.
When: Sept. 28.

What closed in Lubbock in September 2026?
Velvet Taco
What: This taco shop near the university was one of several to close across the Velvet Taco brand.
When: Sept. 8.
Where: 2401 Glenna Goodacre Blvd.
Which rumored businesses announced or denied Lubbock-area locations in September 2026?
7 Brew #5
Announced: The drink stop brand that's been popping up all over town for the past few years is adding a fifth location. This one will open at 2602 50th St. in the fall of 2026.
Bloom With Grace Mobile Shop
Announced: A new flower shop announced it is "coming soon" to 4517 34th St. A grand opening is set for Oct. 10.
Frankie’s Provisions & Bottles
Announced: This small bites and curated wines shop has been around for over a year, hosting pop ups throughout Lubbock. This month, they officially got the keys to their future storefront, 3434 34th St., Suite B. An opening date has not been announced.
Liberty Light Studio LBK
Opening soon: This photo studio is set to open, tentatively, on Oct. 15 at 8004 Pontiac Ave., Suite 100. It specializes in props and sets.
LK & Co.
Announced: Information is limited on this upcoming boutique shop, which has not announced location and expects to open in 2027. Follow on Facebook for updates.
NaNyx Nail & Spa
Announced: A new nail salon announced it will open on Nov. 7 at 4615 50th St.
Rafters Bar & Grill
Announced: This upcoming restaurant at 2405 Broadway will serve Rousser Cattle Beef, a local ranch. It will be owned and operated by Texas Tech alumni and local farmers and ranchers. No opening time has been announced.
Raider Flooring
Pending move: This flooring showroom will move from 4815 50th St. to 3225 50th St., b4, in early 2027.
Rejino Sipz LBK
Announced: This drink stop in Olton announced an expansion into Lubbock, and will replace Dusty Coast Sodas at 7924 Slide Road. It will also have ice cream.
Super Pollo Mexican Grill
Announced: Another chicken-named restaurant has announced an upcoming location in Lubbock, this time at 7006 University Ave. In the social media announcement, it mentioned "pollo asado al carbón, ribs, sausage, birria, and authentic Mexican flavor." No opening time has been announced.
