Riding a bicycle in Lubbock could be better, and the Texas Department of Transportation recently opened a survey to ask for residents' thoughts on how.
On Tuesday, TxDOT opened the Lubbock District Bicycle
Plan survey, which will be open through Nov. 6 at txdot.gov/projects/hearings-meetings/lubbock/2026/lubbock-district-bicycle-plan-101326.html. The survey allows people to review and give feedback on "recommended Bikeway Functions for state roadways, proposed Bicycle Tourism Trail (BTT) refinements, and corridor priorities," according to a TxDOT release issued Tuesday.
"As a regional framework, the Lubbock Bicycle Plan will help TxDOT identify gaps and prioritize locations where bikeway improvements could provide the greatest benefit," the release stated. "The draft plan will be available for review and comment next year."
The survey is only available in English. People who need interpretations, translations, or accommodations to participate can contact TxDOT at 214-535-7261 or elizabeth.jones@txdot.gov. This must be done by Oct. 30.
Going through the survey, people can view suggested bike paths and their designations, TxDOT's identified priorities, and new tourism routes, providing feedback on each. After that, an optional series of questions regarding demographics will appear, but are not necessary for someone to submit their thoughts.
