Here are the top performers from Week 1 in Lubbock-area high school football.
Buddha Guerra, Seminole
Guerra ran for 296 yards and six TDs on 22 carries in a win over Bushland. He also recorded six catches for 62 yards and a TD.
Andres Ornelas, Denver City
Ornelas ran for 220 yards and three TDs on 28 carries in a win over Abernathy. He also made a 3-yard reception.
E'Davion Taylor, Monterey
Taylor was 11 of 14 passing for 168 yards and three TDs, including the go-ahead score with 25 seconds remaining in a comeback win over Coronado. He also ran for 13 yards on five carries and caught a 9-yard pass.
James Ordonez, Frenship
Ordonez was 17 of 22 passing for 281 yards and five TDs in a win over Lubbock-Cooper.
Jacob Gonzales, Seminole
Gonzales was 29 of 48 passing for 288 yards and three
TDs. He also ran six times for 20 yards.
Edgar Ceniceros, Denver City
Ceniceros rushed 18 times for 189 yards and one TD.
Zade McClure, Frenship
McClure made three catches for 94 yards and three TDs.
Noah Alexander, Monterey
Alexander recorded 10 catches for 119 yards and a TD.
David Bawcum, Coronado
Bawcum completed 21 of 32 passes for 213 yards, four TDs and one interception.
Cy Leach, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty
Leach completed 13 of 17 passes for 180 yards and three TDs in a win over Frenship Memorial.
Landyn Garcia, Post
Garcia was 7 of 14 passing for 157 yards and three TDs in a win over Anson. He also ran for 32 yards on three carries.
Jossue Lozano, Farwell
Lozano posted 14 tackles (nine solo), including three for a loss, and two sacks in a loss to New Deal.
Logan Winn, Shallowater
Winn was 16 of 35 passing for 226 yards and two TDs in a win over Childress. He also ran for 25 yards on six carries.
Coy Miller, Farwell
Miller was 14 of 31 passing for 168 yards, two TDs and an interception. He also ran for 43 yards and a score on 15 carries.
David Franco, Denver City
Franco was 10 of 19 passing for 156 yards and three TDs. He also ran three times for 10 yards.
Randon Curtis, Post
Curtis ran for 133 yards and a TD on 20 carries.
Kasey Heide, Seminole
Heide posted a team-high 14 tackles (10 solo), including one for a loss.
Noah Martin, Levelland
Martin ran for 95 yards and two TDs on 13 carries in a win over Plainview. He also caught two passes for 38 yards.
Jake Potter, Levelland
Potter led the team with 130 yards and a TD on 15 carries.
Easton Foster, Shallowater
Foster ran 10 times for 93 yards and two TDs.
Brayden Hurst, Idalou
Hurst was 14 of 19 passing for 166 yards and a TD in a win over Sweetwater.
Pierce Fioroni, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty
Fioroni made six catches for 80 yards and two TDs.
Talon Wilcox, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty
Wilcox rushed for 107 yards and a TD on 16 carries. He also caught two passes for 20 yards.
Micah Blackshear, Shallowater
Blackshear made six catches for 66 yards and a TD, adding an interception and three tackles on defense.
Noah Gonzales, Frenship
Gonzales had seven catches for 97 yards and a TD.
Draven Gonzales, Post
Gonzales recorded three catches for 69 yards and two TDs.
Brecken Wilcox, Lubbock-Cooper Liberty
Wilcox ran nine times for 67 yards and two TDs.
Majd Alturk, Monterey
Alturk made two catches for 64 yards and two TDs.
Ruben Molina, Farwell
Molina recorded an interception and two fumble recoveries, along with three tackles (two solo).
A.J. Huddleston, Idalou
Huddleston ran six times for 86 yards and a TD, adding two catches for 20 yards.
Blayce Jeter, Shallowater
Jeter led the team with 11 tackles.
Luis Ornelas, Denver City
Ornelas caught three passes for 76 yards and a TD.
James Ortega, Denver City
Ortega ran for 92 yards on 12 carries.
