While hardworking folks are out here busting their knuckles just to keep up with property taxes and inflation, our good old-fashioned Republican courthouse has been playing a very expensive game of pretend.
According to reports, Lubbock County has quietly been cutting two separate taxpayer-funded salaries for a single job—the Precinct 2 commissioner’s seat.
One seat. Two guys getting paid. And everybody at the top just shrugs and claims they didn't notice.
It’s enough to make a prairie dog dive back down its hole and pull the dirt in after it. But let me tell you something, folks: the decades of staying holed up are over. It’s time to come up out of the dirt and become a serious majority in Lubbock.
Look at what the GOP has handed
us lately while they’re too busy fighting among themselves for us to even notice: they sell us down the river with a fat 2% tax-and-spend raise for themselves, slash our volunteer firefighters to the bone, put on embarrassing drunken public displays, and now run a dual-paycheck scandal on the taxpayers' dime.
And they expect us to just tip our hats and say thank you? Horse hockey.
They won’t protect us from invasive surveillance like Flock cameras, and they won't stand up against these massive AI data centers sucking up our water.
They’re too busy blinded by the bright lights of Austin and their own internal squabbles to care about the ordinary people paying the tab.
As the great Barbara Jordan once said, we believe in an inclusive rather than an exclusive party. Let everybody come on in—independents, fed-up conservatives, and every West Texan who believes in common sense.
It’s time to do it different. If we want a government that respects real local control against big-state overreach, honors our traditional West Texan "live and let live" culture, and keeps taxes low, it's time to give the Democrats a second look.
Let's send a loud, clear signal this November: vote for a Democratic County Clerk to ensure fair administration, act as an honest watchdog for the people, and finally put an end to the courthouse circus. It’s time to take our county back.
