Two weeks into the season, we know even less than we thought we did when it comes to the Big 12 football power rankings.
Nobody's really stood out that much, but plenty of teams have offered enough evidence that not everything is as it seemed a month ago. It's up to us to sort fact from fiction.
1. BYU (2-0, 1-0)
Last week: 2, def. Arizona 28-17
This week: at Colorado State (2-0)
What to know: Cougars suffocated the Wildcats in the second half and have the early edge in the Big 12 race.
2. Kansas State (2-0)
Last week: 3, def. Washington State 34-7
This week: vs. Tulane (1-1)
What to know: Avery Johnson has barely used his legs in two games, yet the Wildcats have scored 105 points. That'll play.
3. Texas Tech (2-0)
Last week: 1, def. Oregon State 35-24
This week: vs. Houston (2-0)
What to know: Easily the most
unimpressive 2-0 team in the conference, and that's saying something.
4. Arizona (1-1, 0-1)
Last week: 4, lost 28-17 to BYU
This week: vs. Northern Illinois (0-2)
What to know: Noah Fifitia and co. will have a say in the Big 12 title race, just not right now.
5. Houston (2-0)
Last week: 5, def. Southern 77-6
This week: at Texas Tech (2-0)
What to know: Cougars have a very real offense that could put the Red Raiders into the cellar immediately. They just have to do it on the road.
6. Utah (1-0)
Last week: 6, def. Arkansas 43-10
This week: vs. Utah State (0-2)
What to know: Before you're impressed with a 33-point win over an SEC team, remember the opponent was Arkansas.
7. Arizona State (1-1)
Last week: 7, lost 48-20 to Texas A&M
This week: vs. Kansas (1-1, 0-1)
What to know: Can't knock the Sun Devils for losing on the road to a Top 10 team, but that second half was rough.
8. Oklahoma State (1-1)
Last week: 15, def. Oregon 39-31
This week: Murray State (1-2)
What to know: Drew Mestemaker is a psychopath, and Oklahoma State might just have a legit team. Oregon might also be very mid. We'll split the difference.
9. Baylor (1-1)
Last week: 8, def. Prairie View A&M 44-3
This week: vs. Louisiana Tech (1-1)
What to know: Hard for DJ Lagway to shed the injury-prone label when he's already missing games two weeks into the season.
10. Colorado (2-0)
Last week: 9, def. Weber State 52-21
This week: at Northwestern (1-0)
What to know: Jury's still out on the Buffs, but Deion Sanders sure loves the Protect College Sports Act, so there's that.
11. Iowa State (1-1)
Last week: 11, lost 16-13 to Iowa
This week: vs. Bowling Green (0-2)
What to know: Perhaps the Cyclones aren't as bad as expected, but I wouldn't say they're good either.
12. Cincinnati (2-0)
Last week: 12, def. Western Carolina 62-10
This week: vs. Miami (Ohio) (1-1)
What to know: Are the Bearcats good? Probably not. But they are 2-0, and you can't take that away from them.
13. West Virginia (2-0)
Last week: 13, def. UT Martin 52-17
This week: vs. Virginia (2-0)
What to know: Things could get very ugly for the Mountaineers this week against Virginia.
14. TCU (1-1)
Last week: 16, def. Grambling 63-7
This week: vs. Arkansas State (1-1)
What to know: Whooping Grambling isn't going to get the Horned Frogs back into our good graces.
15. Kansas (1-1)
Last week: 10, lost 38-21 to Missouri
This week: vs. Arizona State (1-1) in London
What to know: The Isaiah Marshall 2026 mixtape is going to be the most entertaining thing in the world, just not to the benefit of the Jayhawks.
16. UCF (1-1)
Last week: 14, lost 12-7 to Pittsburgh
This week: vs. Georgia State (2-0)
What to know: Not sure what UCF was doing in Week 2, but it certainly wasn't playing a football game.
