We're once again opening each week of the football season by spotlighting some of the individuals who performed exceptionally well over the weekend. Take a look at what our finalists
got done on the field, then vote for the lohud Football Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.
The poll will remain open until Thursday at 3 p.m. and we'll feature the winner on lohud sports social media accounts.

Devin Bierfeldt, Nyack
The senior tight end came up with five receptions for 196 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 96-yard catch and run, in a loss to Lakeland.
Connor Day, Pleasantville
The junior running back carried 17 times for 173 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Valhalla. He also caught a pass and returned two kickoffs and one punt, finishing with 256 total yards.
James Fitzgerald, Mamaroneck
The junior quarterback completed 8 of 13 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns, including a fourth-down connection with Sam Mehler that gave the Tigers a win over Scarsdale.
Kieran Fitzgerald, Pearl River
The senior tight end and linebacker delivered six tackles and three sacks in a win over Tappan Zee. He also caught two passes for 60 yards and one touchdown.
Tristan Paganuzzi, Pelham
The junior running back piled up 211 yards and scored three touchdowns on 29 carries in a win over Hen Hud.
Ethan Pierrette, White Plains
The senior wide receiver and defensive back had two receptions for 53 yards and one touchdown in a win over East Ramapo. He also made 10 tackles, five solo, and intercepted a pass.
Anthony Porco, Putnam Valley
The senior wide receiver filled a void and became a running threat in a win over Briarcliff/Hamilton, going 8 yards for a second-quarter score and later 44 yards on fourth down to seal the victory in the final minute.
Mamadee Sangaray, Iona Prep
The senior safety recorded a dozen solo tackles and got in on two others, leading the unbeaten Gaels to a win over Monsignor Farrell.
Alex Vlasto, Rye Country Day
The junior running back and linebacker had 16 carries for 180 yards and caught a 17-yard TD pass in a win over Hackley. He also registered 10 tackles and picks off a pass.
Jeremy Walerys, John Jay-Cross River
The senior kicker and safety put four kickoffs into the end zone, hit a 32-yard field goal, went 5 for 5 on PATs and made five tackles in a win over Greeley.
