An Ulster County woman has been charged with murder in connection with the 2025 death of her 10-year-old daughter.
Mom charged in daughter's death
Angelica Sullivan, 30, of Ellenville, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder, a felony, in connection with the Aug. 18, 2025, death of her daughter, Kathleen E. Pulido.
State police were called to a residence on Park Street in the village of Ellenville to investigate a report of an unresponsive 10-year-old girl following what troopers initially described as "a medical emergency at the residence."
Kathleen was taken to Ellenville Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after noon, according to State Police.
Sullivan's arrest followed a yearlong investigation by State Police and the Ulster County District Attorney's
Office. Authorities have not released further details about the cause or manner of Kathleen's death.
"Investigators demonstrated professionalism, persistence and resilience throughout this case," State Police Capt. Brad Natalizio said in a news release. "Despite the difficult nature of investigating the death of a child, they remained focused on following the evidence and conducting a thorough and objective investigation."
"Our thoughts remain with Kathleen Pulido and all those affected by her death," Natalizio said.
Who was Kathleen Pulido?
Kathleen Elizabeth Pulido was a resident of both Ulster and Orange counties, splitting time between her parents, according to New York State Police.
In her obituary, Kathleen was described as a "smart, sweet, beautiful girl" who loved making crafts and jewelry.
She enjoyed walking along the Neversink River, riding quads with her brothers and spending time with friends.
"She was a fun 10 year old energetic, loving girl with a personality every one cherished," according to the obituary. She is survived by her father, Dennis, and stepmother, Tara; brothers Joseph and Vincent; and numerous other family members.
