A Mount Vernon Department of Public Works employee was stabbed multiple times while on duty, the city said in a news release.
The stabbing occurred Tuesday morning, Oct. 20, in the area of Lincoln and North 7th avenues. The employee, who was not named, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A cellphone video uploaded on Facebook by a bystander and posted by Mount Vernon News Center showed a man in the street holding two knives shouting 'Come on, Come on' at a pair of sanitation workers who were wearing orange DPW t-shirts. Each worker held what appeared to be a bat and one of them picked up a bottle
as the knife-wielding man walked towards the curb.
