Burger-mania is taking over Westchester. The county is already filled with burger-forward eateries but now, within the span of days, two more spots are opening, one of which is new to the county. That's on top of the Aug. 9th opening of Fat Stu's in Mamaroneck, with an emphasis on burgers, fries and shakes. Plus, for those willing to cross the bridge, the second location of The Breakfast & Burger Club in New City.
Burger spots coming soon to Westchester
Shake Shack, Mount Kisco
The brand’s 72nd location in New York State and and 6th in Westchester opens Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. The first wave of customers will receive custom Shake Shack tote bags. And, as part of the company's purpose to Stand for Something Good®, it will donate $1 for every sandwich sold to Feeding Westchester, supporting their efforts to end
hunger and reduce food insecurity across the county. Diners can also expect all the Shake Shack faves, inclding crinkle fries, hand-spun shakes and ever-popular ShackBurger. 176 N. Bedford Road, shakeshack.com.
7th Street Burger
Depending on the timing of local inspections, 7th Street Burger, its first in Westchester, should open the week of Sept. 21. The company, which is 34 spots strong, is known for its smash burgers and crispy fries. 2270 Central Park Ave., 7thstreetburger.com.
Mama Burger
Expect a Dominican twist on handcrafted burgers when Mama Burger, a new concept from Victor Sanchez, owner of Mamajuana Cafe and Mamasushi, opens later in September/early October. The fast food spot will also feature the Dominican Republic's popular street food burger known as a chimi. 1 Van Der Donck St.

Fat Stu's All American Burger, Mamaroneck
After opening Fat Stu's All American Burger in Harrison in 2023 and Port Chester in 2025, John Stubenvoll (aka "Stu") opened his largest of the bunch Aug. 9 on Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck. This new new one, three times the size of the others, boasts the same nostalgic Americana décor, the same black and white checkered tables and the same menu, which focuses on burgers, fries, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches and shakes.
Among the options: the Stu burger (cheddar, lettuce, tomato, Fat Stu's sauce), Bacon Blue (blue cheese and Applewood bacon), Hottie Chicken sandwich (pepper jack and spicy aioli), chicken wings, hot dogs (with various toppings) and shakes featuring Longford's ice cream. Stubenvoll is particularly proud of the eatery's proprietary beef blend, so much so that he hopes to venture down the road into retail, selling the burgers in stores. 157 Mamaroneck Ave., Mamaroneck, 914-315-1524, fatstus.com.
