A person was found dead after a residential structure fire Friday in Orange County, according to New York State Police.
Troopers from the State Police barracks in Greenville responded at about 12:50 a.m. Aug. 28 to a report of a fully engulfed home on Darraugh Lane in Sparrowbush.
Victim found inside home
The Sparrowbush Fire Department extinguished the fire, State Police said. A deceased person was found inside the residence afterward.
The victim could not immediately be positively identified because of the severity of the burns, according to State Police.
Cause of fire remains under investigation
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. State Police said there is no evidence of foul play.
The investigation is being conducted by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Middletown barracks,
the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit and the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available, State Police said.
