We had a couple of complete surprises last week and it would be good for the game if we had a couple more before the equipment is sent out to be reconditioned.
Everybody in Section 1 scrolled by the Mamaroneck-Yonkers score and quickly reversed to make sure they didn't read the 12-0 score wrong. Yes, the Guardians won. And we're not going to review who was healthy and who was hurt. Every team is dealing with health issues at this point of the season.
So fingers crossed we get a couple more unexpected results this week.

Scarsdale (4-1) at North Rockland (4-3), 6:30 p.m.
Patrick Simon and Shane Kelly should have fresh legs following an unplanned bye week. The Raiders were unable to fill the open date created when Yonkers decided to field just one team this season and are undoubtedly looking to build a little momentum ahead of the playoffs. Scarsdale hasn't given up more than 14 points in a game and fully understands how dangerous North Rockland is. The Red Raiders, though, have to be a bit ragged after taking losses against Mamaroneck, Arlington and New Rochelle. That's a legitimate Class AA gauntlet.
The pick: Scarsdale 21, North Rockland 17
Chaminade (2-6) at Iona Prep (7-0), 6 p.m.
Will the Gaels show up with serious game faces? Chaminade has lost three in a row, but they were no more than a touchdown away from knocking off Cardinal Hayes, Stepinac and St. Anthony's. It's a potential trap game. Iona Prep can't be looking ahead to Stepinac in the regular-season finale.
The pick: Iona Prep 35, Chaminade 13
Rye (4-3) at Clarkstown North (5-2), 6 p.m.
Nothing is set in stone, but as long as there are no huge surprises, the winner of this game heads for Lakeland in a Section 1 Class A quarterfinal and the loser goes to Somers. That makes this a consequential game. Clarkstown North can run the ball. Alex Londino has 675 yards and 13 touchdowns and there are three others here with at least 375 yards on the ground.
The pick: Rye 27, Clarkstown North 20
Saturday, Oct. 24
Pearl River (7-0) at Pelham (7-0), 4 p.m.
The Pelicans have a balanced offense with Tristan Paganuzzi and Henry Feuerstein. The Pirates have a formidable defense led by Kieran Fitzgerald that has only given up 42 points. It's going to be a telling game ahead of the postseason as both teams have only faced one winning team, Hen Hud.
The pick: Pearl River 28, Pelham 20
