Pocantico Hills Day Camp, better known as “Camp Poco,” is celebrating 70 years of creating lifelong memories for campers.
“Friendship, adventure and fun is really highlighted in all that we do," said Kerry Papa, the assistant director at Camp Poco. “So, when you're looking around campus, you'll see lots of kids having fun in athletics and doing culinary activities, arts and crafts, all those kinds of things with their friends.”
The six-week summer day camp is run by Pocantico Hills Central School District and welcomes rising pre-K through ninth-grade students from the district and neighboring communities.

Programming also includes instructional and free
swim time in the pool, special shows like a magic act, engaging field trips and amusing spirit days sprinkled throughout. One of the most notable weeks is a camp-wide color war where the campers and counselors are divided into different color teams to compete in athletics as well as to create a group banner and song.
“We say that we live 10 for two at camp. That means we work really hard for 10 months out of the year to plan and make the two most special months the most amazing months that they could possibly be, and we feel like we achieve that here,” said Papa.
A school year is 180 days, with no two days and no two schools exactly alike. The students differ, the teachers differ, school cultures differ.
