A flood watch has been issued for parts of the Lower Hudson Valley as heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected Thursday, Aug. 27.
The National Weather Service said the flood watch is in effect from noon to 11 p.m. Thursday for New York City, Orange, Rockland, Putnam, Westchester and Nassau counties.
Thunderstorms could produce up to 2.5 inches of rain, with localized amounts of up to 3 inches possible. The heavy rainfall could lead to excessive runoff and flooding of rivers, streams and other low-lying or flood-prone areas.
