Two children were killed and another was critically injured Friday after a passenger van struck two Amish buggies in Oswego County in New York, according to New York State Police.

The crash happened around
9:16 a.m. at the intersection of County Route 41 and Manwaring Road in the town of Richland, State Police said.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2017 Dodge operated by Terri M. Russell, 47, of Sandy Creek, was traveling south on County Route 41 when it struck two Amish buggies traveling in the same direction.
One buggy was carrying four people and the other was carrying five, police said.
A 7-year-old and a 13-year-old, both occupants of the first buggy, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 9-year-old who was riding in the second buggy suffered critical injuries and was taken to Upstate University Hospital.
Richland is a town in northern Oswego County, about 40 miles north of Syracuse and just east of Lake Ontario.
Investigation ongoing
State Police said the investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
